Our accessibility features

Our website is designed with user experience in mind. Clear navigation, logical structure, and consistent layouts guide you through the site.

We work to support compatibility with screen readers, so visually impaired users can access visual information through audio output. When we use hyperlinks in our text, we clearly describe what clicking on the link will do. Alternative text is provided for images, so the screen reader can describe the image even if you’re unable to see it. We use NVDA screen reader software when testing the pages on the site.

Our site is fully navigable using only a keyboard. This ensures that users can navigate comfortably without relying on a mouse. You can use the tab key to move through all the interactive parts of the site in order, and use the enter key to select. Each part will be highlighted on screen as you move through and select so you can see where you are.

We aid legibility by having strong colour contrasts for our text and choosing fonts that enhance readability.

The site uses relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.

Our multimedia content includes captions, so users with hearing impairments can access our audio-visual materials.

If you have difficulties using your device, AbilityNet can help. AbilityNet is a UK charity who believe the power of digital technology should be available to everyone, regardless of ability or age.

Their My Computer My Way website provides advice on how to make your phone, computer, or tablet easier to use. It has lots of easy to understand guides on how you can adjust the settings on your device to help you.

Standards

We are working towards AA level of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1. These guidelines set out the requirements for designers and developers to make website content more accessible for people with disabilities.

We use WAVE and AXE accessibility evaluation tools when building the website to test that it is accessible for as many people as possible.

All pages validate as HTML 5.

Offline support

Information about the Fund can be sent to you in a range of alternative formats, including large print and braille.

We can also apply power of attorney instructions, allowing you to give permission for someone to manage your pension on your behalf.
